Microsoft and NVIDIA partner to bring personal AI agents to Windows PCs with RTX Spark

This innovative platform leverages NVIDIA’s cutting-edge RTX Spark, described as a "superchip that transforms Windows PCs for the age of personal AI agents." The collaboration aims to establish a secure and private environment for running AI agents on devices. This is achieved through a dual-layer security framework combining Windows OS-level security features, which provide identity verification, process isolation, and policy enforcement, alongside the NVIDIA OpenShell runtime. This runtime allows users to manage AI agents' access, control local query execution, and safeguard sensitive information before it is transmitted to the cloud. NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, expressed his vision for the future of computing, stating, "The PC is being reinvented. For forty years, you launched apps. Click. Type. With RTX Spark and Microsoft Windows, you ask — and the PC does the work. All on a laptop…This is the new PC. The personal AI computer." The RTX Spark chip itself is a powerful system-on-chip that merges the Blackwell RTX GPU with a 20-core Grace CPU, boasting an AI performance capability of up to 1 petaflop. This chip supports a unified storage of up to 128GB and is potent enough to manage large AI models with up to 120 billion parameters. Additionally, it can process extensive conversations or documents with token counts reaching up to 1 million. For users, AI agent functionalities powered by RTX Spark will be seamlessly accessible from the Windows taskbar, as the technology is integrated into the operating system. Businesses and developers can look forward to a more robust version, the DGX Station for Windows, designed for more intensive workloads and computing demands. This fall, consumers can expect RTX Spark-enhanced Windows laptops and compact desktops from top brands such as ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, Acer, and GIGABYTE.
