In a groundbreaking collaboration, AI startup Gnani.ai has teamed up with fintech leader Razorpay to unveil an innovative AI-driven platform designed to streamline real-time payment collections during live customer interactions. Announced on February 26, this joint initiative aims to bridge a significant gap in automated debt recovery solutions. Traditional voice AI systems have often fallen short, typically reminding customers to settle their dues but necessitating separate transaction processes. This has resulted in lower conversion rates. The newly launched system empowers AI agents to both initiate and finalize payments within the same conversation, marking a significant advancement in the field. Ganesh Gopalan, founder and CEO of Gnani.ai, emphasized the transformative potential of this technology, stating, "For the first time, enterprises can automate collections at scale without sacrificing conversion. This integration delivers what voice AI has promised but never achieved: the ability to complete transactions, not just initiate conversations." The platform seamlessly integrates Gnani.ai’s voice automation capabilities with Razorpay’s advanced Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. This AI-native payments infrastructure enables software agents to initiate, authorize, and monitor transactions in real time. By connecting directly to Razorpay’s system, the AI can generate payment links or UPI requests, track transaction statuses, and confirm settlements without any human involvement. Khilan Haria, Chief Product Officer at Razorpay, added, "Agentic AI only becomes truly valuable when it can act, not just converse. We’re providing AI systems with a secure, real-time pathway to complete payments during live customer interactions." Currently, the platform supports one-time UPI payments and recurring mandate-based payments, with plans to incorporate card payments and digital wallets in the future. Gnani.ai reports that its system handles over 10 million calls daily and supports more than 38 languages, including major Indian languages like Hindi, Tamil, and Bengali, facilitating deployment across a wide range of customer demographics.
