A16z-backed Codi launches AI agent office manager

Codi, a startup supported by Andreessen Horowitz and co-founded by Christelle Rohaut and Dave Schuman, is making waves with the introduction of its AI-powered office management platform. Described as the first of its kind, this innovative technology aims to fully automate the complexities of managing office spaces. Founded in 2018, Codi initially served as a marketplace that connected businesses with flexible office spaces. In the wake of the pandemic, the company evolved from manually assisting clients with office management to leveraging cutting-edge AI advancements. Rohaut, the CEO, explained how the new platform transforms the office management landscape: "The previous model required clients to book spaces through Codi; now, regardless of where you lease, our AI can streamline your office logistics." The startup released a beta version of its AI office management tool in May, officially launching it recently. Following a $16 million Series A funding round in 2022, Codi has raised a total of $23 million to date. As businesses across the U.S. embrace a return to office work, Rohaut emphasizes the outdated and cumbersome nature of traditional office management. "Managing an office can incur administrative costs of at least $80,000 annually," she noted. The role of office managers has significantly shifted in recent years, with many positions remaining unfilled as companies adapt to hybrid work environments. When office managers are present, their focus often leans more towards event planning rather than essential logistics. The team at Codi has meticulously trained its AI on accumulated expertise and vendor data. The system can coordinate various office needs, from restocking pantries to scheduling cleaning services. Impressively, Codi reached $100,000 in annual recurring revenue within just five weeks of launching its beta version. Rohaut claims that this platform could save companies hundreds of hours in administrative tasks each year. Codi operates on a monthly management fee model, which is significantly lower than hiring a traditional office manager or even a part-time executive assistant. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many former clients transitioning to the AI platform. During the beta phase, Codi secured 40 new clients, including TaskRabbit and Northbeam. Rohaut views Codi's competition as traditional management companies and other workplace experience platforms like Envoy. What sets Codi apart is its ability to eliminate the need for manual vendor coordination by automating execution and integrating a network of curated service providers. "We envision a future where offices operate autonomously, just as self-driving cars do," she stated. "Our goal is to alleviate the logistical burdens of managing physical spaces, allowing human talent to focus on fostering workplace culture and growth."
