BRINC’s new police drone uses Starlink, carries Narcan, chases vehicles at 60mph

In a groundbreaking development for law enforcement technology, drone startup BRINC has unveiled its latest innovation, the Guardian drone, which is set to revolutionize emergency response. Announced on Tuesday, this advanced model will feature Starlink connectivity across all units, marking a first in the world of commercially available drones. The Guardian drone boasts impressive specifications, including a flight duration exceeding one hour and a remarkable top speed of over 60 miles per hour, making it the first drone capable of pursuing vehicles. This cutting-edge model is designed not just for surveillance but also for critical response operations. Equipped to carry various essential payloads, the Guardian can transport life-saving equipment directly from its charging nest. Among the items it can deliver are flotation devices, defibrillators, epinephrine auto-injectors, and Narcan, the medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. The drone's nest also features an innovative battery-swapping mechanism that can replace depleted batteries in approximately one minute. The Guardian further enhances its operational capabilities with dual 4K visual sensors and a total zoom of 640x, allowing for clear imaging from distances exceeding a thousand feet. Blake Resnick, BRINC’s founder, highlighted the drone's game-changing potential, stating, "It’s really the most capable 911 response drone ever. Guardian is more of a direct police helicopter competitor than the drone industry has produced to date." Additionally, the drone is equipped with a powerful siren, capable of reaching 130 dB, comparable to the sound of a jackhammer or a jet during takeoff. This feature ensures that the drone can effectively alert and guide responders during critical incidents.
