Cyriac Lefort's journey to founding MyHair AI began two years ago during a routine visit to a New York hair salon. While there, his stylist made a comment that resonated deeply: "You’re starting to lose a bit of hair." Despite Lefort's belief that he wasn’t experiencing hair loss, the remark led him to purchase products suggested by the hairdresser. This experience highlighted the emotional weight of hair loss and ignited his curiosity about the industry, which he found rife with misinformation and dubious reviews. Determined to make a difference, Lefort aimed to develop a solution utilizing AI technology to assist men in accurately diagnosing hair loss. As a seasoned entrepreneur with a successful track record, he partnered with 28-year-old Tilen Babnik to co-found MyHair AI. Within weeks, they developed a product that allows users to upload photos of their scalps to the app. The AI analyzes these images to assess hair density and identify early signs of hair loss, enabling users to track changes over time and create customized hair care routines. In addition to personalized assessments, the platform connects users with specialists and clinics, ensuring access to verified reviews to avoid scams. "Our AI provides clarity about your hair health, recommends suitable products, and educates users on the science behind their choices, including potential side effects," Lefort explained. By focusing on transparency in a market valued at $50 billion, MyHair AI aims to transform how individuals approach hair health. After a year of concept development, scientific validation, and app creation, MyHair AI officially launched this summer. Remarkably, the initial prototype was entirely vibe coded, with subsequent improvements made by engineers to enhance scalability. The app has quickly gained traction, boasting over 1,000 paying subscribers and 200,000 registered users, while analyzing more than 300,000 scalp images. Recently, the company welcomed renowned dermatologist Dr. Tess to its board, marking another step forward in its mission. Unlike competitors, MyHair AI has crafted a specialized AI model trained on a vast database of hair images, distinguishing it from others that rely on broader models. Looking ahead, Lefort envisions expanding the platform further, including developing a booking system and forging partnerships with more clinics. "Men often have two significant health concerns: sexual dysfunction and hair loss. We’re addressing one of those everyday worries," he stated.
