AI meets football: How Premier League's partnership with Adobe could change the fan experience

In a groundbreaking move, Adobe has forged a partnership with the Premier League that promises to transform how football fans engage with their favorite teams. Starting with the 2025/26 season, supporters will have the ability to create personalized team badges and kits using Adobe Express, an intuitive content creation application powered by Adobe’s Firefly generative AI. This innovative feature will be seamlessly integrated into the new Fantasy Premier League website and app. Fans will not only be able to design their own content but will also benefit from Adobe’s AI capabilities, which allow for the generation of images and videos from simple text prompts. Additionally, the AI will enable users to edit videos into shorter social media-friendly clips and modify photos by adding or removing elements, enhancing the shareability of fan-created content. The collaboration also aims to elevate the personalization of the Premier League’s digital platforms. By leveraging Adobe’s Experience Platform and a suite of data analytics tools, the League intends to customize content and updates for individual fans based on their preferences, behaviors, and locations. This means supporters can expect real-time push notifications about transfer news or matchday highlights through the app or website. Furthermore, Adobe’s Customer Journey Analytics will provide the Premier League with insights into fan interactions with digital content, from email engagements to video preferences. This information will facilitate more precise targeting, such as sending highlight reels featuring a fan’s favorite player instead of generic match summaries. Future enhancements could include location-specific messages for fans entering stadiums or performance-driven updates for Fantasy Premier League managers, keeping them competitive throughout the season. Will Brass, Chief Commercial Officer of the Premier League, stated, “This exciting partnership equips us with the tools to better understand and meet our fans' digital needs.” Rachel Thornton, Chief Marketing Officer at Adobe, added, “By harnessing Adobe’s capabilities within the world’s most-watched football league, we are providing fans with new AI-powered ways to engage with the moments that matter most to them.”
