Brew, smell, and serve: AI steals the show at CES 2026

At CES 2026, artificial intelligence showcased its remarkable capabilities, transforming mundane tasks into extraordinary experiences. From precisely brewing coffee to crafting personalized fragrances and enhancing sports training, AI is setting a new standard for convenience and enjoyment. Bosch, a revered German manufacturer, unveiled a groundbreaking feature for its high-end 800 Series coffee machine, which is now compatible with Amazon's Alexa. This fully automated device allows users to command it to prepare a double espresso with just their voice, offering a selection of 35 different espresso styles. "We're one of the first manufacturers to truly embrace AI in our products," stated Andrew de Lara, a Bosch spokesperson. The company is on a mission to integrate AI into more kitchen appliances through its Home Connect app, enabling remote management of devices. In another exciting development, South Korean startup DigitalScent introduced a fragrance generator that tailors scents to individual moods and preferences. Already making waves in select airports, this machine allows users to choose their desired fragrance profile and fine-tune it before finalizing their order. With the ability to create a unique scent from over 1,150 combinations in seconds, each fragrance is packaged in a portable vial priced between $3 and $4. The innovation didn't stop there; various startups revealed next-generation AI-powered ball machines that are redefining sports training. Singapore’s Sharpa exhibited a humanoid table tennis robot known for its impressive reaction time of just 0.02 seconds, while Chinese company Tenniix showcased a tennis robot capable of firing balls at speeds up to 75 miles per hour. This machine simulates real gameplay by analyzing incoming shots and responding like a human opponent. Prices range from $699 for a basic model to $1,600 for one equipped with advanced features, making it accessible for both amateur and serious players. "There's a real rhythm to the gameplay that feels just like playing with a real person," said Run Kai Huang, a Tenniix representative. The advancements presented at CES 2026 highlight how AI is revolutionizing everyday activities, making them more interactive and enjoyable than ever before.
