OpenAI has unveiled an eagerly awaited update for ChatGPT, empowering users to branch conversations seamlessly while retaining the original dialogue. This feature is now accessible to users logged into the web version. The announcement was made through OpenAI's X account on Friday, responding to user demands for enhanced conversation management. This innovative functionality allows users to diverge into alternative threads at specific moments during a chat. As a result, it becomes easier to explore different discussion paths or side topics without losing the context of the main conversation. The request for this feature originated from X user Micah (@MicahJanke), who articulated the need for branching capabilities. Micah stated, “Let us branch off from chats at specific points without losing the node we branched off from.” He highlighted the desire to navigate multiple conversation branches or engage in side discussions without muddling the original chat. OpenAI acknowledged this request, confirming the feature's implementation. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, also shared the news, labeling it a “very requested feature.” This new functionality is set to significantly enhance user experience, particularly for those utilizing ChatGPT for brainstorming, research, or creative endeavors. In addition to this update, OpenAI has plans to launch a new jobs platform next year aimed at connecting employers with individuals possessing AI skills. This initiative comes in response to growing concerns about AI's impact on the job market, especially in sectors already facing automation-related disruptions. Alongside the jobs platform, OpenAI is gearing up to introduce an AI certification program. This program aims to equip workers with essential AI knowledge for the workplace and provide credentials that employers recognize. The company aims to certify 10 million Americans by the end of the decade.
