Unite, a developer known for its innovative app solutions, has unveiled Quip, a cutting-edge clipboard management application designed specifically for the Apple ecosystem. This new tool aims to enhance user productivity by offering robust features for organizing copied text and managing snippets seamlessly across devices. Quip stands out by providing users with the ability to easily access their clipboard history, maintaining a universal clipboard that syncs across their Mac and iOS devices. Users can dive into a wealth of copied items, filtering them by text, links, images, code, and more. Additionally, Quip allows for customizable storage settings, including the duration items remain available, maximum item count, and size limitations. The app’s intuitive interface resides unobtrusively in the Mac menu bar and features a specialized keyboard on iOS, making it accessible at any moment. Users can also create collections of clipboard items for quick retrieval and even set up smart collections that automatically organize items based on user-defined criteria. Privacy was a top priority during Quip's development. The application is designed to intelligently disregard sensitive information such as passwords and credit card details, as well as temporary data like cache and debug information. Users can further customize privacy settings by specifying certain applications or keywords to exclude from the clipboard history. Among its impressive features, Quip includes a “supershortcut” function, allowing users to define short phrases for quick text expansion, making it easy to paste frequently used information like addresses or code snippets. Furthermore, users can capture content directly from their screens—be it from presentations or PDFs—via convenient shortcuts, enhancing the app's functionality. Quip also integrates with Apple’s Continuity Camera, enabling users to effortlessly transfer sketches, documents, or images from their iPhone to their Mac. Binyamin Goldman, the app's developer, noted that Quip currently utilizes older Apple Natural Language Processing (NLP) capabilities but plans to transition to Apple’s offline AI models later this year to expand its features. Goldman, who has taken a hands-on approach in developing Quip with the aid of AI tools like Cursor and Claude, expressed excitement about the app’s potential. Users can explore Quip for free for two weeks, after which a subscription is available for $14.99 per year, or a standalone Mac license can be purchased for $19.99.
