New AI plugin uses Wikipedia’s AI writing detection rules to help it sound human

In a significant development for AI writing, tech entrepreneur Siqi Chen has unveiled an open-source plugin designed for Anthropic’s Claude Code AI assistant. This innovative tool, named "Humanizer," guides the AI to produce text that resembles human writing more closely by employing a set of 24 language and formatting patterns identified by Wikipedia editors as typical indicators of AI-generated content. Chen launched the plugin on GitHub, where it quickly garnered over 1,600 stars by Monday, reflecting its growing popularity. "It's incredibly useful that Wikipedia compiled a comprehensive list of 'signs of AI writing,'" Chen shared on X, emphasizing the practicality of the resource. The plugin's foundation lies in a guide provided by WikiProject AI Cleanup, a dedicated group of Wikipedia editors aimed at identifying and addressing AI-generated articles since late 2023. Founded by French editor Ilyas Lebleu, the project has tagged more than 500 articles for scrutiny and, in August 2025, released a formal compilation of the recurring patterns they observed. Chen's tool functions as a "skill file" for Claude Code, Anthropic's terminal-based coding assistant. It utilizes a Markdown-formatted file that appends a structured list of written instructions to the prompts given to the large language model (LLM) powering the assistant. This specialized formatting allows Claude to interpret the skill information with greater accuracy than standard system prompts. Notably, custom skills require a paid Claude subscription with code execution capabilities enabled.
