Oakley has partnered with Meta to introduce a cutting-edge line of AI-driven smart glasses, specifically designed for athletes and sports enthusiasts. The Oakley Meta HSTN (pronounced ‘HOW-stuhn’) merges Oakley’s iconic style with Meta’s innovative wearable technology, featuring hands-free camera functionality, open-ear audio, and built-in AI support. This exciting launch is set to kick off with a global marketing campaign starring football sensation Kylian Mbappé and NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Oakley Meta HSTN represents the first product in a new range developed through the ongoing collaboration between Meta and eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica. Built upon the established HSTN frame design, these smart glasses incorporate a high-definition (3K) video camera and open-ear speakers, providing users with a versatile experience. With an IPX4 water resistance rating, they are designed for active outdoor use. Meta emphasizes that battery life is a key feature, boasting up to eight hours of continuous use and 19 hours on standby. A quick 20-minute charge can deliver up to 50% battery, while the accompanying charging case can extend usage by an additional 48 hours. The device comes equipped with Meta’s voice-activated assistant, enabling users to effortlessly check wind conditions while golfing or capture skateboard moments using simple voice commands. Meta is marketing the Oakley Meta HSTN as a dual-purpose device, enhancing both athletic performance and content creation. Preorders for the limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN will commence on July 11, priced at $499 USD (approximately ₹43,204). A broader collection, starting at $399 USD (around ₹34,546), is anticipated to launch later this summer. The initial rollout will include the US, UK, Canada, Australia, various European nations, and Nordic countries, with additional markets like India, Mexico, and the UAE expected to follow by year’s end. The public debut of the Oakley Meta HSTN is scheduled for Fanatics Fest from June 20 to 22, and at UFC International Fight Week from June 25 to 27.
