Excitement is building in the world of motorsport as innovative technologies continue to emerge in single-seater racing. Recently, the A2RL team held an impressive autonomous race at Yas Marina in the Middle East, showcasing significant advancements since their last competition against human drivers. Meanwhile, teams in Formula E are gearing up for the launch of their Gen4 era next year, featuring cars that promise real downforce and nearly double the power. As Formula 1 prepares for a major overhaul with new technical regulations that will introduce more powerful electric propulsion and active aerodynamics, a groundbreaking concept has surfaced. Enter the DRG-Lola, an electric single-seater designed from the ground up by the renowned British manufacturer Lola Cars and Lucas di Grassi, a veteran racer and FIA Formula E champion. Di Grassi, known for his advocacy of sustainable technologies in racing, has a vision for the future that aligns with the growing trend of electrification in motorsports. The DRG-Lola is not just a concept; it is a step closer to reality. Utilizing existing battery and motor technology, the car is designed to be both powerful and efficient. It boasts an impressive output of 804 horsepower (600 kW) from dual electric motors that drive both the front and rear axles. This power is supported by a 60 kWh battery pack, strategically arranged in modules on either side of the driver's cockpit. With such specifications, the DRG-Lola aims to set new benchmarks in electric racing, potentially eclipsing the performance of current F1 cars around iconic tracks like Monaco.
