CATL’s new LFP battery can charge from 10 to 98% in less than 7 minutes

In a significant advancement for the electric vehicle industry, Chinese battery manufacturer CATL has unveiled a groundbreaking lithium-iron phosphate battery at a recent tech event. This new third-generation Shenxing battery showcases CATL's commitment to enhancing EV technology, positioning it as a formidable competitor to BYD’s newly launched Blade Battery 2.0. Chinese automakers have made remarkable strides in electric vehicle development, evolving from reliance on joint ventures with Western manufacturers to producing cutting-edge EVs loaded with innovative features. While skepticism remains about some of the industry's claims, the technological advancements in Chinese EV powertrains are undeniable. One of the major challenges in EV technology has been charging speed. Traditional battery systems often charge at varying rates due to factors such as cell chemistry and temperature. For instance, major brands like Hyundai and Porsche utilize 800 V nickel manganese cobalt battery packs, achieving a 10 to 80% charge in approximately 18 minutes. However, according to reports from CarNewsChina, CATL's Shenxing 3.0 battery can achieve an astonishing charge from 10 to 98% in under seven minutes, nearly five times faster than its competitors. This leap in charging technology could potentially transform the EV landscape, making electric vehicles even more appealing to consumers.
