iOS 26 brings a new AI-powered feature to extend your iPhone's battery life

As the launch of Apple's latest iPhone approaches, anticipation builds around the upcoming iOS 26 operating system, expected to debut soon after. While the spotlight during Apple's WWDC earlier this year was primarily on Liquid Glass, there's another intriguing feature that could significantly enhance user experience: Adaptive Power. This innovative setting leverages artificial intelligence to maximize battery life during peak usage scenarios. iPhone users currently have options to manage battery life, such as reducing brightness or activating Low Power Mode. However, Adaptive Power operates more intelligently, activating specifically during resource-intensive activities like video recording, photo editing, or gaming. When Adaptive Power is triggered, it implements minor performance adjustments to prolong battery longevity. According to Apple, this feature adjusts settings such as display brightness and may extend the time some activities take to complete. Notably, Low Power Mode will activate automatically when battery levels drop to 20%. Unlike other battery-saving options, the Adaptive Power feature is not enabled by default. To activate it, users must ensure they are running the iOS 26 Developer or Public Beta version. They can navigate to Settings > Battery > Power Mode, where the Adaptive Power option will appear above Low Power Mode. However, it's important to note that the Adaptive Power feature is exclusive to newer devices. Reports suggest that it only becomes available on models that support Apple's advanced technologies, meaning users with older iPhone versions will not see this feature in their battery settings. The feature is limited to the latest iPhone models, including the iPhone 15 Pro series and the upcoming iPhone 16 and 17 models. As Apple continues to innovate, users can look forward to smarter battery management that enhances their device experience during demanding tasks.
