Autonomous vehicle hype is back, and Humble Robotics is bringing it to freights

The enthusiasm surrounding autonomous vehicles is resurging, reminiscent of the excitement seen in 2016. Industry veteran Travis Kalanick is back in the spotlight, now focusing on his robotics venture as competition for talent and investment ramps up once again. With funding pouring in, the pioneers of the previous wave are stepping forward to shape the future. Eyal Cohen, the founder and CEO of Humble Robotics, is a key player in this revitalized landscape. Having previously worked with Otto before the Uber acquisition and later joining Anthony Levandowski at Pronto, Cohen brings two decades of experience in deep tech ventures from Silicon Valley. His latest endeavor, which emerged from stealth mode in April with a $24 million investment, aims to develop a fully autonomous, cabless electric hauler designed specifically for freight transportation. In a recent episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, Cohen joined host Kirsten Korosec to discuss the feeling of déjà vu in the autonomous vehicle sector and share insights gained from his extensive career in electrification, solar energy, and robotics. For those interested in the evolution of this technology, the conversation offers valuable perspectives from someone at the forefront of innovation. Listeners can find the Equity podcast on platforms such as YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and Spotify, and stay connected through social media at @EquityPod.
