Replit has successfully secured a substantial $250 million funding round, elevating its valuation to an impressive $3 billion. Unlike many rapidly expanding tech companies that frequently turn to venture capitalists for funding, Replit has adopted a more measured approach. The last time the company raised funds was in 2023, when it secured approximately $100 million, establishing a post-money valuation of $1.16 billion. Overall, Replit has now attracted nearly $478 million in total funding, according to PitchBook estimates. Founded in 2016 by programmers Amjad Masad, Faris Masad, and designer Haya Odeh, the company has reported remarkable growth in recent months. Its annualized revenue has surged dramatically from just $2.8 million to an astonishing $150 million in under a year, a significant leap from the $100 million ARR reported in June, as noted by Masad on Twitter. The latest funding round was led by Prysm Capital, with contributions from Amex Ventures and Google’s AI Futures Fund. Existing investors, including Y Combinator, David Sacks’ Craft, Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, and Paul Graham, also participated in this round. Google’s investment aligns with its longstanding partnership with Replit, as many of the applications developed using Replit are hosted on Google Cloud. Interestingly, Replit’s increasing popularity has prompted Microsoft to offer it as an option on its Azure platform since July.
