Eugenia Kuyda, the visionary behind the AI companion startup Replika, is embarking on an exciting new journey. Having stepped down as CEO earlier this year, Kuyda has unveiled her latest venture, Wabi, which promises to revolutionize the way users interact with technology. Wabi is designed as a platform allowing individuals to create their own mini-apps without needing any coding skills. "It's a platform to discover, remix, and share, creating mini apps for daily life," Kuyda explained. Currently, Wabi is in a private beta phase, with plans for a public launch on the horizon. With a dedicated team of ten, Kuyda is enthusiastic about the potential of Wabi. Although details about the startup's funding remain undisclosed, it has been recognized as a portfolio company by Ludlow Ventures, the same firm that supported Replika. Despite her new venture, Kuyda maintains a strong connection to Replika, where she continues her role as founder and advisor. Dmytro Klochko, previously the COO of Replika, has taken over as CEO. Kuyda expressed her ongoing commitment to Replika, stating, "It's my baby. I am the largest shareholder. It's definitely my life's work." Replika has attracted significant attention, raising $11 million to date and boasting a user base of over 40 million. However, the app has also faced challenges, including a $5.6 million fine from Italy's data protection agency for violating privacy regulations. Kuyda has noted that the majority of Replika's users are over 35, highlighting the app's role as a potential bridge to human relationships.
