In a bold move that harkens back to its foundational roots, reMarkable has introduced the Paper Pure, a new monochrome tablet designed for productivity enthusiasts. Priced at $399, this device succeeds the reMarkable 2 after a six-year run, boasting enhanced hardware and contemporary software features that position it competitively within the current tablet landscape. The Paper Pure features a 10.3-inch display, maintaining the same diagonal measurement as its predecessor but offering a wider screen for improved note-taking and reading experiences. While the resolution remains unchanged at 1872 x 1404 pixels and a pixel density of 226 PPI, the advancements in the new model include an impressive 32GB of storage—quadrupling the capacity of the reMarkable 2—and a reduction in weight, now at 360 grams, making it about 40 grams lighter. ReMarkable claims that the Paper Pure is 50% more responsive compared to the earlier model and offers 30% more battery life thanks to its upgraded 3,820 mAh battery. New features have been integrated to ensure the tablet meets the demands of modern productivity tools, including a web app for seamless calendar syncing and note-sharing capabilities tailored for meetings. Users can import documents from cloud services, which are then automatically converted into an easily readable and annotatable format. Additionally, the Paper Pure enhances handwriting search functionalities and offers integrations with popular collaboration tools like Slack and Miro, allowing users to convert handwritten notes into digital text for easy sharing and collaboration. The Norwegian company has announced plans to cease production of the reMarkable 2 but will continue to provide software updates and support for existing users. The base model of the Paper Pure comes with a stylus, while the premium version, priced at $449, includes the advanced Marker Plus stylus featuring an eraser function, along with a stylish sleeve folio available in various colors. Pre-orders for the device are open now, with shipping anticipated to commence in early June. ReMarkable has reported sales of over 3.5 million devices to date and boasts 1.2 million subscribers to its Connect service, which provides unlimited cloud storage and exclusive templates for users.
