Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has officially partnered with Meta to establish a joint venture focused on creating and scaling enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) solutions tailored for businesses in India and select global markets. This collaboration involves an initial investment of approximately ₹855 crore (around US$100 million), with Reliance owning a 70% stake and Meta holding 30%. The arrangement is pending customary regulatory approvals, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2025. The joint venture will harness Meta's advanced open-source Llama models to deliver high-quality AI solutions. It will primarily offer two key services: the Enterprise AI Platform-as-a-Service, which provides a secure, comprehensive environment for organizations to customize and deploy generative AI models for various applications, including sales, marketing, IT development, customer service, and finance; and a suite of pre-configured AI Solutions designed to meet both cross-functional and industry-specific requirements. By merging Meta's AI expertise with Reliance's vast digital infrastructure, this partnership aims to make enterprise-grade AI accessible to Indian businesses, especially small and medium enterprises (SMBs). The joint venture is set to leverage Llama’s proven readiness in multiple production environments, delivering solutions at a reduced total cost of ownership compared to traditional models. Moreover, the collaboration promises deployment flexibility, offering support for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructures. This approach will help businesses manage their infrastructure costs while scaling high-performance AI models efficiently. During the announcement, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating it aims to democratize AI access for Indian enterprises. "Partnering with Meta realizes our vision of making AI available to every Indian business. By integrating Meta’s widely adopted Llama models with our extensive industry knowledge, we will empower organizations—ranging from ambitious SMBs to established corporations—to innovate swiftly, operate more efficiently, and compete effectively on the global stage," he remarked. Meta's Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to enhance Meta's presence in the enterprise AI sector. "We are thrilled to deepen our collaboration with Reliance to provide open-source AI solutions to Indian developers and businesses. This joint venture will enable real-world applications of Meta’s Llama models, and we are excited to explore new opportunities together," Zuckerberg stated.
