Redmi Note 15 5G review: Impressive slim aesthetics and functionality

In a market dominated by bulky smartphones, the newly unveiled Redmi Note 15 5G stands out with its remarkably slim and stylish design. This device, featuring a sleek profile and a curved display, offers a refreshing alternative to the flat, hefty phones that have become prevalent. With its premium feel and aesthetic appeal, the Redmi Note 15 5G is designed to attract attention. The phone boasts significant upgrades from its predecessor, including a larger, brighter display, a powerful 108MP Master Pixel camera, and an enhanced battery capacity. However, this has resulted in a price increase for the base model, now set at Rs 22,999 in India. After testing the Redmi Note 15 5G for about ten days, it's clear that while it performs well in many aspects, there are some trade-offs to consider. One of the standout features of the Redmi Note 15 5G is its design. Measuring just 7.35mm thick, it is a breath of fresh air compared to its competitors. The Mist Purple variant I tested has a slightly thicker profile at 7.4mm but feels robust in hand. The phone's IP66 rating ensures durability against dust and water, while the squaricle camera module houses a triple-camera setup that offers a sleek aesthetic. The 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3200 nits enhances the viewing experience. The screen delivers vibrant visuals, making it ideal for media consumption and gaming. Despite concerns about accidental touches on a curved screen, my experience showed no such issues during regular use. The display's protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 7i adds an extra layer of security against drops. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The Redmi Note 15 5G handles everyday tasks smoothly, from social media to multitasking with multiple apps. During gaming sessions, I found it performed well, though it did exhibit slight heating during extended play. The smartphone runs on Android 15-based HyperOS 2, providing a fluid user experience with smooth animations. However, some users may find the pre-installed bloatware frustrating. On the camera front, the 108MP main camera delivers decent performance, particularly in well-lit conditions. While portrait shots are detailed, low-light performance leaves much to be desired. Battery life is another strong point, with the 5,520mAh capacity providing nearly a full day of use under moderate conditions. The device supports 45W fast charging, allowing for a complete recharge in about an hour. In conclusion, the Redmi Note 15 5G is a compelling option for those seeking a stylish phone with solid performance and battery life. Its slim design and vibrant display make it appealing, but photography enthusiasts might find its camera capabilities lacking. Overall, this smartphone is well-suited for everyday users rather than heavy gamers or photography buffs.
