Reddit launches tools for publisher to track and share stories

On Wednesday, Reddit introduced a suite of complimentary tools aimed at assisting publishers in monitoring the performance of their articles and discovering optimal sharing opportunities within the platform’s diverse communities. This rollout is part of Reddit Pro, a collection of business resources launched last year to bolster organizations' engagement on the site. Among the new features added under the Links tab in Reddit Pro are article insights, which allow publishers to track where their stories are shared, along with detailed statistics such as views, upvotes, and clicks. Additionally, publishers can link their RSS feeds to Reddit Pro, enabling them to manage article sharing more effectively through intuitive dashboards. To enhance content distribution, Reddit plans to leverage artificial intelligence to recommend suitable communities for article sharing. The platform has been testing these new tools with prominent publications, including The Atlantic, The Hill, NBC News, and The Associated Press, and is now inviting other organizations to participate in the beta phase. In tandem with these updates, Reddit is also focused on improving the news-reading experience for users. Currently, clicking on a link opens it in an in-app browser, requiring users to exit to comment on the original thread. The upcoming changes will allow users to swipe up to read articles or post comments seamlessly. Recognizing that news and articles are vital to users' search experiences on Reddit, the platform aims to optimize its service for publishers, making it easier for users to discover stories. This initiative aligns with Reddit’s broader goal of evolving into a more robust search engine. Moreover, Reddit is adjusting how it presents statistics to users. The company announced that it will replace subreddit member counts with a new metric showing seven-day visitor statistics and the number of contributions made during that period.
