Realme reunites with Oppo as a sub-brand, signaling a major reshuffle

In a significant shake-up within the tech industry, Realme is set to re-establish itself as a sub-brand under Oppo, the well-known Chinese electronics giant, according to reports from Reuters. This strategic decision, part of a broader restructuring for 2026, aims to enhance collaboration between the two brands, allowing them to share resources and effectively reduce operational costs. Initially, the news was primarily focused on the Chinese market, but Oppo has since confirmed the development with an official statement in India. The company emphasized that this integration is designed to optimize resource utilization and strengthen synergy across its brands. "This enables OPPO, realme, and OnePlus to present a unified and enhanced offering—delivering more innovative, differentiated products and a more streamlined, customer-centric service experience globally," the statement read. While the reshuffle is expected to alter some aspects of their business operations, it will not interfere with the planned launches of upcoming products for any of the three brands. Realme will maintain its distinctive branding, ensuring that its products will continue to be marketed as before. The restructuring is anticipated to foster better teamwork and resource-sharing among the companies, allowing Oppo to remain an independent brand. In contrast, OnePlus and Realme will function as sub-brands, each targeting different market segments. This collaboration is poised to benefit customers by expanding access to service centers and enhancing after-sales support, leveraging Oppo’s extensive network. Furthermore, by sharing research teams and component sourcing, both Realme and Oppo can better navigate rising production costs, ultimately leading to more competitive offerings in the smartphone market.
