Realme 16 Pro+ 5G set to launch in India on 6 January: top 5 things we know

Realme has officially announced the launch date for its highly anticipated mid-range smartphones, the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+. Set to hit the Indian market on January 6, the company has already shared several exciting details about these new devices. The Realme 16 Pro+ is set to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, a chipset previously featured in devices like the Motorola Edge 70 and Vivo T4 Pro. This phone will boast an impressive 7,000mAh battery, accompanied by 80W wired fast charging capabilities. However, there is no indication of wireless charging support, which seems unlikely given Realme's past offerings in this series. In terms of software, the Realme 16 Pro+ will operate on Realme UI 7.0, based on Android 16. Realme has also committed to a robust update policy, promising three years of operating system upgrades and four years of security patches. Photography enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the device will feature a 200MP Samsung HP5 primary camera, alongside a Samsung S5KJN5 telephoto lens with 3.5x magnification. While the resolution of the telephoto and tertiary lenses remains undisclosed, Realme has indicated that they are utilizing the Luma color algorithm, which aims to enhance texture and lighting in photographs. The new phone will be available in several attractive color options: Camellia Pink, Master Grey, and Master Gold. The design includes a square camera module, reminiscent of styles seen in recent OnePlus and Oppo models. Furthermore, the Realme 16 Pro+ will feature a curved display with a peak brightness of up to 6,500 nits and an impressive 2,500Hz touch response rate. This display is also expected to support Netflix HDR and will have ultra-thin bezels measuring just 1.48mm. Additionally, the device is built to withstand the elements, boasting IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance.
