Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) smart glasses launch in India with enhanced battery and sharper video

Meta and Ray-Ban have officially unveiled the second generation of their smart glasses in India, offering notable enhancements that promise to elevate the user experience. The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) glasses now feature double the battery life compared to their predecessor and deliver improved video capture quality. Available for purchase at Ray-Ban stores and major optical retailers across India, these smart glasses start at a price point of Rs 39,900. The latest model boasts advanced 3K Ultra HD video capabilities and ultrawide HDR for superior image quality. Users can now enjoy up to eight hours of continuous use, thanks to the enhanced battery performance, along with a charging case that extends battery life by an additional 48 hours. The glasses can also achieve a 50% charge within just 20 minutes. Exciting software updates are on the horizon, promising new features such as slow-motion and hyperlapse video capture. The integrated Meta AI assistant has been upgraded to better serve the Indian market, allowing users to communicate in Hindi. This enables them to take photos, issue commands, and ask questions simply by saying, “Hey Meta.” A unique addition is the Celebrity AI Voice feature, which allows users to interact with the assistant using voices of famous personalities, including actress Deepika Padukone. In a bid to enhance functionality, Meta is testing a new UPI-Lite payment feature within the glasses. This innovative tool will enable users to make secure UPI QR-code payments by simply directing their gaze at a code and instructing the assistant to “scan and pay,” linking directly to their WhatsApp-connected bank accounts for effortless transactions. The second-generation glasses are available in the classic Wayfarer design, as well as the contemporary Skyler and the trendy Headliner styles, now featuring vibrant new colors such as 'Shiny Cosmic Blue', 'Shiny Mystic Violet', and 'Shiny Asteroid Grey.'
