At the recent Snapdragon for India event, Qualcomm introduced two new processors aimed at enhancing the mid-range smartphone experience. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chips come packed with features designed to meet the evolving needs of Indian smartphone users, including Smooth Motion UI for seamless navigation and enhanced AI-powered camera capabilities. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 promises to elevate everyday smartphone usage with a remarkable boost in performance, providing up to 21% improved GPU capabilities, 20% quicker app launches, and a reduction of screen stutter by 18%. This processor includes an octa-core Qualcomm Kryo CPU, featuring four performance cores that can reach speeds of 2.6GHz and four efficiency cores operating at 2.0GHz. It supports up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, all built on TSMC’s advanced 4nm process for smooth interactions. For gaming enthusiasts, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 includes advanced features such as the Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, and Qualcomm Frames Per Second 3.0 that promise a premium gaming experience. Additionally, it boasts the capability to handle camera sensors of up to 200MP and can record 4K HDR video at 30fps. Connectivity options are also impressive, featuring Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, Qualcomm XPAN technology, and support for 17 5G bands. Smartphones from Honor and Redmi will be the first to showcase the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 targets budget-conscious consumers, offering significant performance enhancements for daily tasks. Qualcomm claims that this processor delivers 77% better GPU performance, 43% faster app launches, and a 25% reduction in screen stutter. It also features an octa-core Kryo CPU, making it a powerful option for affordable devices. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 will debut in smartphones from brands such as Oppo, Realme, and Redmi, further expanding the accessibility of advanced smartphone technology.
