Dolby Cinema debuts in India with first screen at City Pride, Pune

Dolby Laboratories has proudly introduced India's inaugural Dolby Cinema at City Pride Kharadi in Pune, marking a significant milestone in the country's cinematic landscape. This state-of-the-art 310-seater auditorium integrates the stunning visuals of Dolby Vision with the immersive audio experience of Dolby Atmos, all within a specially designed environment aimed at enhancing the movie-watching experience. Pune now holds the distinction of being the first city in India to host a Dolby Cinema, with the launch strategically aligned with the premiere of 'Jurassic World Rebirth' on July 4. The auditorium is equipped with a cutting-edge dual 4K laser projection system that promises exceptional brightness, clarity, and vibrant colors. Additionally, the venue features a wall-to-wall curved screen and acoustics that have been meticulously engineered to deliver a superior sound experience. To further enrich the viewing experience, the cinema offers premium seating, dynamic lighting, and an interior designed to minimize distractions, ensuring that audiences can fully immerse themselves in their films. Michael Archer, Vice President of Worldwide Cinema Sales and Partner Management at Dolby Laboratories, emphasized the significance of this launch, stating it represents “a defining step in our long-term vision for India.” He noted that with over 1,000 Dolby Atmos screens already operational in the country, Dolby Cinema is set to redefine premium cinematic entertainment. The City Pride Multiplexes, managed by the Chaphalkar family, has strengthened its collaboration with Dolby through this exciting launch. Pushkaraj Chaphalkar, a Partner at City Pride, expressed pride in this partnership, highlighting Pune's enthusiasm for premium entertainment as a perfect match for this new cinematic experience. This venue is just the beginning, as plans are in place for six additional Dolby Cinema installations across India, with future locations set to open in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi, and Ulikkal. On a global scale, more than 740 films have been released or are confirmed to be released in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, reflecting a robust demand for high-quality cinema experiences. Moviegoers in Pune can already purchase tickets through BookMyShow, with exciting offers and special previews anticipated in the near future.
