Prezent raises $30 million to acquire AI services firms — starting with founder’s other company

Prezent, a startup specializing in AI-driven presentation solutions for enterprises, has successfully raised $30 million in its latest funding round. This investment was spearheaded by Multiplier Capital, Greycroft, and Nomura Strategic Ventures, and also saw contributions from existing investors such as Emergent Ventures, WestWave Capital, and Alumni Ventures. Based in Los Altos, California, Prezent is now valued at $400 million and has accumulated over $74 million in funding to date. The startup intends to primarily allocate this new capital towards strategic acquisitions. In a significant move, Prezent has announced its first acquisition: Prezentium, a company focused on presentation services within the life sciences sector. Notably, Rahul Mishra, the founder of Prezent, was also one of the co-founders of Prezentium. Since founding Prezent, Mishra has held the role of non-operating president at Prezentium, and the two companies have maintained a collaborative relationship, leveraging Prezentium as a key go-to-market partner. This acquisition not only consolidates Mishra's ventures but also enhances Prezent's ability to tap into Prezentium’s established client base, facilitating the introduction of its AI suite to a broader audience. While competition in the AI presentation tool market is growing—with notable players like Presentations.ai, Lica, Gamma, and Chronicle—Prezent is charting a distinct path by focusing exclusively on enterprise clients and large corporations. Mishra has expressed intentions to expand Prezent's offerings into various sectors, including finance and manufacturing. However, for the time being, the focus remains on serving the life sciences and tech industries. He emphasized, "There are numerous tools aimed at enhancing the visual appeal of presentations. Our goal is to provide superior tools for business communications, as presentation is an area that remains largely unautomated. We aim to assist data scientists and designers in communicating effectively through our automation." With experience from McKinsey, Mishra is steering the company towards a tailored approach, training AI models specific to each industry. Prezent employs presentation engineers, who understand both the industry and the company's offerings, directly within enterprises to facilitate quicker adoption of AI tools for presentation building. Mishra pointed out that while AI has vast capabilities, it cannot inherently teach users how to utilize AI effectively. Therefore, placing presentation engineers within client organizations is crucial for accelerating product adoption. The trend among AI startups to acquire service firms is becoming more pronounced, as these acquisitions allow for the integration of existing customer bases and enhanced customization for enterprise clients. Prezent plans to pursue more partnerships and acquisitions in areas like executive communication coaching, medical writing, and consulting services. Mark Terbeek, a partner at Greycroft who has invested in multiple rounds with Prezent, highlighted their focus on addressing specific customer needs in business communications. He noted, "We recognized that Rajat and Prezent are diligently working to solve critical customer challenges, and we see software evolving rapidly to adapt to user workflows, ultimately saving time." In the future, Prezent aims to enhance its product with increased personalization, allowing the AI tool to learn individual styles within organizations. Additionally, the company is looking to incorporate multimodal features in presentation creation, enabling users to utilize text, voice, or video inputs. Like other innovative companies such as Synthesia and D-ID, Prezent also intends to integrate digital avatars into its presentation offerings.
