Porsche’s next Cayenne is fully electric—we drove the prototype

As automotive technology evolves, the integration of curved displays in vehicles has become a popular trend, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. However, Porsche has taken this a step further with the upcoming Cayenne Electric, featuring a striking touchscreen that seamlessly blends into the dashboard and center console. The unique design includes a noticeable curve that initially raised concerns about usability, but after experiencing the prototype, I found it surprisingly intuitive and engaging. This innovative SUV is packed with groundbreaking features, boasting an impressive output of over 1,000 horsepower (745 kW) and an estimated range exceeding 300 miles (482 km) on a single charge. Although the official launch is still a year away, early reviews suggest that the Cayenne Electric will exceed expectations. Porsche first introduced the Cayenne in 2002, sparking debate as it represented a shift for a brand known primarily for sports cars, venturing into the SUV market amidst a backdrop of limited premium options. Over the years, it has gained a reputation for its exceptional performance both on and off-road. Now, the upcoming Cayenne Electric aims to elevate that legacy even further. Three variants of the electric Cayenne will be available, including the base model, the sportier Cayenne S, and the high-performance Cayenne Turbo. While Porsche has yet to disclose the exact specifications for each variant, insiders suggest that the Turbo model could potentially be the most powerful production vehicle in the company's history, rivaling the performance of the Taycan Turbo GT.
