At the IAA Mobility show in Munich, Porsche has introduced a groundbreaking variant of the iconic 911, marking it as the most powerful model yet, aside from a few limited editions. This latest iteration is not only a powerhouse but also claims to be the fastest 911 in reaching 60 mph, achieving this remarkable feat in just 2.4 seconds. What sets this model apart is its innovative hybrid powertrain. Rather than simply adding an electric motor to the existing design, Porsche has engineered an entirely new 3.6 L flat-six engine. This fresh approach allows the company to eliminate the traditional belt drive and reposition several ancillary components, which are now powered by the vehicle's 400 V traction battery. The hybrid system was first showcased in the 911 GTS T-Hybrid, which featured a unique electric turbocharger similar to the MGU-H technology used in Formula 1 racing. This electric turbocharger spins up to an impressive 120,000 rpm, effectively reducing throttle lag while also harnessing excess energy to charge the 1.9 kWh battery pack. For the 2026 911 Turbo S, Porsche has implemented a dual electric turbocharger setup. In addition to the turbochargers, the vehicle includes a 53 hp (40 kW) and 110 lb-ft (150 Nm) permanent synchronous motor integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The combined power output reaches a staggering 701 hp (523 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm), allowing the car to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds. It can also accelerate to 124 mph (200 km/h) in a swift 8.4 seconds, which is half a second quicker than the previous 2025 Turbo S model.
