Self-driving car companies Pony.ai and WeRide get the OK for Hong Kong listing

Pony.ai and WeRide have received crucial approval from Chinese securities regulators, allowing these autonomous vehicle technology firms to pursue secondary listings on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. Both companies, headquartered in Guangzhou, are already trading on the Nasdaq Exchange in the U.S. WeRide made its initial public offering in October 2024, with Pony.ai following suit a month later. They are now looking to capitalize on a growing trend among Chinese companies opting for secondary listings. According to regulatory filings submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has granted its approval for their planned listings. The CSRC holds the ultimate authority regarding a company's ability to list overseas, and both Pony.ai and WeRide seem poised to advance with their respective global offerings. Reports from Reuters indicate that WeRide has enlisted the services of Morgan Stanley and China International Capital Corp to facilitate a dual primary listing in Hong Kong, with plans to finalize the listing by December.
