Poe, the innovative app developed by Quora that aggregates various AI models, is rolling out a new feature that allows users to engage in group chats. Announced on Monday, this functionality enables users globally to initiate group discussions with up to 200 participants, facilitating collaboration across an impressive array of over 200 AI models, including those capable of generating text, images, video, and audio. This launch follows closely behind OpenAI’s introduction of group chats in select markets, indicating a growing trend towards collaborative AI interactions. With this new feature, Poe aims to transform the traditional one-on-one chatbot experience into a dynamic environment where friends, family, and colleagues can interact and collaborate. Quora envisions that group chats could foster unique interactive experiences for users. For example, families might utilize the group chat to organize a vacation using the search capabilities of Gemini 2.5 and o3 Deep Research. Similarly, teams could brainstorm ideas for visual projects, leveraging the various image models available on Poe, or engage in trivia games using the app's quiz bots. Users can easily start a group chat directly from the home screen on poe.com. The chat history will sync in real-time across devices, allowing a seamless transition from desktop to mobile without losing the conversation thread. The development of this feature took six months, and Quora is committed to enhancing the group chat experience based on user feedback in the weeks to come. "We believe that the potential for group interactions powered by AI is vast and largely untapped," the company stated in its announcement. Additionally, the new feature allows users to create custom bots on Poe that can be shared within their groups, opening the door to countless possibilities for collaboration and interaction.
