Poco M8 5G to launch in India on 8 January, 2026: Expected price, specs and more

Poco has officially announced the launch date for its newest smartphone, the Poco M8 5G, in India, scheduled for January 8, 2026. The device will make its debut at 12 PM, and a dedicated microsite on Flipkart has been activated, indicating that the Poco M8 5G will be available for purchase on the platform following its launch. The company has revealed that the Poco M8 5G will boast a sleek design with a thickness of just 7.35mm and a lightweight build of 178 grams. Although there are no confirmed details about an additional model making an appearance on the same day, speculation about a Poco M8 Pro 5G has been circulating recently. The teaser released by Poco showcases a unique camera module design that resembles those found on other Poco and Xiaomi models. If rumors are accurate, the Poco M8 5G may essentially be a rebranded version of the upcoming Redmi Note 15 5G, which is set to launch in India on January 6. This could mean the device will feature a sizable 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness reaching up to 3,200 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Under the hood, the phone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, offering configurations of up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Additionally, it may include a robust 5,520mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging. Leaked information suggests a dual-camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a 2MP depth sensor, alongside a 20MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Similar to other recent Xiaomi releases, the Poco M8 5G is likely to run on HyperOS 2, based on Android 15, and may come equipped with an optical fingerprint sensor and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. In terms of pricing, while the Poco M7 was launched at a starting price of ₹9,999, the new model might see a price increase, potentially starting at over ₹15,000, especially with the Redmi Note 15 5G rumored to be priced around ₹20,000. Additionally, tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore suggests that the Poco M8 Pro 5G could be equipped with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and feature a larger 6.83-inch quad-curved AMOLED display with similar refresh rates and protection standards. The camera specifications for this model might include a 50MP primary lens paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, along with a 32MP front-facing camera for high-quality selfies. Stay tuned for more updates and details leading up to the launch of the Poco M8 5G.
