Pocket FM partners with OpenAI to expand AI-driven audio storytelling

Pocket FM, an innovative audio storytelling platform, announced on March 5 that it is joining forces with OpenAI to enhance its content creation capabilities using cutting-edge artificial intelligence. This partnership aims to boost the production and worldwide distribution of AI-generated audio series. As part of this collaboration, Pocket FM plans to implement OpenAI’s APIs within its production framework, which supports over 300,000 creators globally. This integration is expected to empower writers to swiftly generate, localize, and publish high-quality audio series, making it easier to distribute content in multiple languages. Since 2023, Pocket FM has been transforming its content creation processes around generative AI and currently boasts a library of more than 100,000 AI-generated audio series. This segment is experiencing rapid growth, expanding approximately 30% each month. Prateek Dixit, co-founder responsible for product, technology, and AI at Pocket FM, emphasized the significance of AI in their operations. He stated, “Our partnership with OpenAI elevates our AI vision, enabling creators from anywhere in the world to produce and share their stories with millions, rivaling the quality of a professional studio.” The integration will also enhance Pocket FM's strategy for global localization, utilizing AI for multilingual adaptation to engage international audiences effectively. Oliver Jay, OpenAI's managing director for international operations, noted that this collaboration exemplifies how AI can broaden creative possibilities while ensuring that human creativity remains central to the process. With a current listener base of over 250 million and more than 12 billion minutes of content consumed each month, Pocket FM aims to further grow its library of creator-led audio series, leveraging AI tools to reach global audiences.
