Google is set to breathe new life into its wearable technology with the upcoming update for the Pixel Watch 4, reintroducing gesture controls that had previously faded from its lineup. This innovative feature allows users to navigate their devices hands-free, a functionality reminiscent of earlier Android wearables. Among the notable additions is a double pinch gesture, akin to what Apple Watch users have enjoyed. With a simple tap of the thumb and forefinger, users can easily answer phone calls, pause timers, and execute other commands. The watch will even provide prompts to remind users when gesture controls can be utilized. In previous models, a quick wrist turn was used to scroll through lists. However, in the latest version, this action will now dismiss whatever is currently displayed on the screen, such as clearing notifications or declining incoming calls. While Pixel Watch 4 owners eagerly anticipate these enhancements, those with the Pixel Watch 3 will be left out in the cold, as this model will not receive gesture support. Despite the similarities in hardware, including the same Arm chip and orientation sensors, the Pixel Watch 3 is not included in this update. The Pixel Watch 4 also boasts a redesigned case that enhances repairability, a significant upgrade compared to its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 3, which lacked this feature.
