Google's latest offering, the Pixel 10, has arrived to commemorate a decade of innovation in its hardware lineup. Initially approached with a mix of enthusiasm and skepticism, my time with the device has revealed a phone designed with a clear sense of purpose. While it does encounter some familiar pitfalls, it often manages to recover quickly and even occasionally sets the standard in its class. In terms of design, the Pixel 10 does not break new ground. The recognizable camera visor is back, eliciting mixed opinions, while the overall dimensions will resonate with anyone familiar with recent Pixel models. However, this iteration feels more harmonious. With a comfortable 6.3-inch size, it stands out for those who find modern phones overly large. Weighing in at 204 grams, the device feels substantial yet not cumbersome, thanks to its aluminum frame and aesthetically pleasing glass back, which may require a case to prevent slips. The display has exceeded my expectations. With a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, it offers vibrant colors and excellent contrast thanks to its OLED technology. The screen performs exceptionally well outdoors, even in bright sunlight, and the 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth visuals, enhancing the overall user experience. At the heart of the Pixel 10 is the Tensor G5 chip, which may not lead in benchmark scores but provides a remarkably fluid performance. Whether multitasking or gaming, the phone handles tasks with ease, experiencing minimal lag and maintaining stability during extended sessions, making it a pleasant surprise for a device not marketed as a gaming powerhouse. The battery life is another noteworthy improvement. With a capacity of 4,970mAh, the Pixel 10 offers one of the longest-lasting batteries in a baseline Pixel model, providing a day and a half to two days of usage. However, charging speeds leave much to be desired, as it takes over an hour to recharge fully, a drawback in an era where rapid charging is becoming the norm. A new feature, Pixelsnap, introduces a magnetic accessory system similar to MagSafe, allowing users to attach various accessories easily. While it maxes out at 15W charging, this addition is a welcome innovation for those looking for convenient options. The software experience is where the Pixel 10 truly shines. Running on pure Android 16, it offers a seamless interface with minimal bloat. Features like Magic Cue and Camera Coach integrate AI effectively, enhancing usability and making the phone not just smart, but intuitive. Although improvements could be made for regional language support, the commitment to seven years of updates ensures longevity. In terms of photography, the Pixel legacy is alive and well. The triple-camera system, featuring a 48MP main lens, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a new 10.8MP telephoto lens, delivers stunning daylight photos and exceptional low-light capabilities. The telephoto lens particularly enhances versatility, allowing for impressive distance shots and solid digital zoom capabilities. Priced at Rs 79,999, the Pixel 10 enters a competitive market filled with faster and sometimes cheaper options. However, it distinguishes itself through thoughtful design, reliable performance, and superior camera quality. While it may not cater to hardcore gamers or those seeking lightning-fast charging, for users who prioritize software integrity, camera excellence, and dependable performance, the Pixel 10 stands out as perhaps Google's most well-rounded phone to date.
