Pinterest experiments with new AI-powered personalized boards

Pinterest has rolled out exciting new AI-driven enhancements aimed at personalizing user experience on its platform. Among these features is the innovative 'Styled for You' collage, designed to assist users in putting together outfits using their saved fashion Pins. This tool allows users to juxtapose various clothing items and accessories, crafting outfits that reflect their unique style preferences. By selecting an item within the collage, users can easily browse through AI-curated recommendations of saved Pins for optimal mixing and matching. In addition, Pinterest is piloting a feature called 'Boards Made for You,' which curates personalized boards using a combination of editorial insights and AI suggestions. These boards will showcase trending styles, provide weekly outfit inspiration, and include shoppable content, all of which will be available directly in users' home feeds and inboxes. Currently, these AI features are being tested in the U.S. and Canada, with plans for a broader rollout in the coming months. The introduction of these AI capabilities aims to transform Pinterest boards from simple organizational tools into a dynamic platform for exploration, shopping, and outfit discovery. This strategy aligns with Pinterest’s vision of becoming an 'AI-enabled shopping assistant,' as highlighted by the CEO during the company's recent earnings call. While Pinterest expands its AI functionalities, it is also taking measures to manage AI-generated content on the platform. Earlier this year, the company announced initiatives to label AI-generated and modified images, alongside introducing user controls to limit the visibility of AI-generated Pins in their feeds. Moreover, users can expect new organizational tabs that categorize Pins when viewed from user profiles. The 'Make It Yours' tab will recommend fashion and home decor items based on saved Pins, while the 'More Ideas' tab will offer related suggestions spanning categories like beauty, recipes, and art. Additionally, an 'All Saves' tab will facilitate easy access to all previously saved Pins, enhancing user engagement and content discovery.
