Peloton, the renowned fitness equipment manufacturer, is on a mission to broaden its reach by introducing its products in gyms and launching a new platform for buying and selling used equipment. During the Bloomberg Tech Summit, CEO Peter Stern revealed plans to partner with commercial gyms through its subsidiary, Precor, which specializes in gym equipment. The initiative aims to integrate Peloton workouts into compatible Precor machines, allowing gym-goers to experience Peloton's unique fitness offerings in a communal setting. In addition to this venture, Peloton has unveiled Repowered, a peer-to-peer marketplace designed to facilitate the buying and selling of used Peloton gear. Stern emphasized the need for a more secure and user-friendly experience compared to traditional sales methods, such as those found on social media platforms. He stated, "Historically, secondhand sales have taken place, for example, on Facebook marketplace, and that’s absolutely fine for people who want to do that, but it means that you need to transact with a stranger on both ends, and potentially have that stranger come into your home. What we’re trying to do is streamline that and deliver a more premium experience for those secondhand customers." Furthermore, Peloton is exploring the use of artificial intelligence to enhance personalization for its users. Stern shared his vision of scaling coaching through individualized programs, ensuring that each member receives tailored class recommendations from the right instructor, creating a more customized fitness journey.
