Paytm, the prominent online payments platform, has unveiled an innovative feature called ‘Paytm Playback’, enabling users to generate rap songs inspired by their spending habits. Founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma made the announcement via a post on social media platform X, highlighting the unique combination of finance and entertainment. With Paytm Playback, users can create custom rap songs using an AI-generated voice model that reflects their transactions from the previous month. In his post, Sharma explained how this feature works: "@Paytm team has created Paytm Playback - an in-house voice model, and trained it to sing lyrics based on your last month’s spends." To utilize this feature, users simply need to follow a few straightforward steps. First, they should open the Paytm app on their mobile devices. Next, they navigate to the ‘Balance & History’ section on the home screen. Here, they will discover a pop-up for ‘Paytm Playback’ just below the ‘Payment History’ dropdown. Once selected, users will be directed to a new window where they can click on 'Let's Go' to allow Paytm’s AI to craft a song based on their spending. However, if a user has not made any transactions in the previous month, they won’t be able to generate a rap song just yet. Fortunately, Paytm encourages users to return next month to create their AI-generated rap, and they can even set reminders to ensure they don’t miss out. Currently in its Beta stage, the AI-generated rap feature signifies Paytm’s first foray into AI-driven products, aiming to revolutionize consumer interactions in digital payments. Sharma emphasized the potential of AI in creating products that were previously unimaginable, stating, "AI will allow us to create products that weren’t possible before. Like making a song of your spends! And, we are raising the bar in consumer UPI payments." The launch has sparked excitement across social media, with users sharing their amusing experiences of hearing their spending transformed into catchy rap lyrics. One user, Ujjwal Rastogi, humorously remarked, “Just spent ₹54K to become a rap star… now my bank needs therapy,” reflecting the light-hearted reactions this new feature has sparked among the Paytm community.
