Parag Agrawal, the former CEO of Twitter, which is now rebranded as X, has announced the launch of his new artificial intelligence venture named 'Deep Research API.' In a recent post on social media, Agrawal expressed his ambition to surpass current AI models, including ChatGPT and OpenAI's GPT-5. The primary objective of Agrawal's new venture focuses on achieving performance levels that exceed both human capabilities and existing AI benchmarks. He emphasized that the Deep Research API aims to outperform these leading models on two particularly challenging industry benchmarks, a goal he believes is pivotal for the advancement of AI technology. According to Agrawal, his startup is already engaged in powering millions of research tasks each day for innovative startups and public enterprises. He founded the company, Parallel Web Systems Inc., which is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with a mission to automate traditionally human-driven workflows while delivering superior accuracy. Agrawal's experience in the tech industry spans several notable positions, starting as a researcher at Microsoft in 2006. After brief stints at Yahoo and AT&T, he joined Twitter in 2011, where he eventually ascended to the role of CEO in November 2021, following his tenure as Chief Technology Officer. Educated at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Agrawal further enhanced his credentials by earning a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2005. His leadership at Twitter ended when Elon Musk took over the company in 2022, but Agrawal's latest venture marks a significant new chapter in his career, aiming to push the boundaries of AI development.
