Oura has officially introduced its latest innovation, the Oura Ring 5, which is touted as the smallest smart ring available on the market today. This new model is 40% smaller than its predecessor, while maintaining the same high standards for sensing, tracking, and accuracy. CEO Tom Hale emphasized the importance of this redesign in a recent statement, saying, "By reimagining Oura Ring 5 to be smaller and easier to wear, paired with our most advanced software yet, we're enabling many more people to incorporate Oura into their daily lives and gain access to personalized, predictive health insights." The Oura Ring 5 is set to start shipping on June 4, with a base price of $399 for standard finishes and $499 for premium options such as gold and brushed silver. Additionally, a new portable charging case will be available for $99. Oura, recognized multiple times in the CNBC Disruptor 50 list, recently filed a draft IPO prospectus with the SEC, although no specific timeline has been established for its public offering. Accompanying the launch of the Ring 5 are several new health tracking features, which will also be compatible with Oura's third and fourth-generation rings. Among these is the enhanced Health Radar, which monitors vital biometric signals like body temperature and respiratory rate, alerting users to significant deviations that may indicate health issues. New functionalities include the ability to track blood pressure patterns during sleep, aimed at identifying potential cardiovascular risks, as well as monitoring nighttime breathing patterns. Furthermore, Oura is collaborating with Counsel Health, an on-demand healthcare platform, to provide AI-driven health support through its app, available to users in 43 states. Additional updates will improve tracking for live activities such as running and cycling, along with a GLP-1 insights feature designed to assist users on weight-loss medications in managing their dosing schedules and changes in their bodies alongside the biometric data collected by the ring. Oura's progression from a basic tracking device to a comprehensive health and wellness wearable has significantly broadened its user base, moving beyond those solely interested in sleep tracking. Since its launch, Oura has sold over 5.5 million rings, a notable increase from the 2.5 million reported in June 2024. Hale indicated that the company is aiming for nearly $2 billion in sales by 2026, with projections suggesting it will surpass five million paid members this quarter—a fourfold rise in just two years. This growth has led to a fourfold increase in total revenue over the last two fiscal years. In October, Oura successfully raised $900 million in Series E funding, bringing its total valuation to $11 billion with over $1.5 billion raised overall.
