Here's the severance package Oracle offered laid-off US employees

Oracle has recently disclosed the severance terms for its laid-off employees in the United States, offering a package that includes four weeks of base salary, along with an additional week for each year of service, capping at 26 weeks. This information came to light through an internal document reviewed by Business Insider. The announcement of layoffs began early Tuesday morning, with affected employees receiving notification emails and being locked out of their internal accounts at 3 a.m. Pacific Time. In the layoff notification, Oracle communicated, "After careful consideration of Oracle's current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working day." Compared to severance packages offered by other major tech companies, Oracle's offer appears to be less generous. For instance, Block, which recently laid off a significant portion of its workforce, provided its employees with 20 weeks of pay plus a week for each year of tenure, in addition to extensive healthcare coverage and other benefits. Similarly, during its layoffs in 2025, Meta provided a severance package of 16 weeks of pay plus two additional weeks per year of service, as well as six months of health insurance. Oracle's severance terms appear to be in line with Amazon's recent layoffs, where affected employees were offered full pay and benefits for 90 days along with a subsequent severance package. According to a separate severance explanation document, Oracle's standard severance plan defines the benefits eligible to employees. It states that employees must have worked at least six months in the last year of employment for their service time to be counted in the severance calculation. As of May 2025, Oracle had approximately 162,000 full-time employees, with recent layoffs impacting various departments including Oracle Health, Sales, Cloud, Customer Success, and NetSuite.
