Oracle layoffs 2026: How much severance US employees are getting?

Recently, Oracle initiated a significant reduction in its workforce, impacting thousands of employees across various departments worldwide. Estimates suggest that the layoffs could affect as many as 30,000 workers, sending ripples of concern throughout the tech industry. Although Oracle has remained silent publicly regarding the layoffs, many affected employees have taken to social media platforms like LinkedIn and Reddit to voice their frustrations and share their experiences. As individuals come forward with their stories, several have disclosed the severance packages being offered to impacted employees in the United States and India. In the U.S., those receiving layoff notifications were informed of their severance pay in an email that outlined the terms. The message stated, "After careful consideration of Oracle's current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change," adding that the notification marked their last working day. According to reports from Business Insider, U.S. employees can expect to receive four weeks of base salary for their first year of service, with an additional week for each subsequent year, capped at a maximum of 26 weeks. It's important to note that the severance calculation will be based on the employee's most recent hire date. Furthermore, local labor regulations, including the WARN Act in the U.S., may impact the final severance amounts, with policies varying by location. In India, the severance package offered differs significantly from that in the U.S., aligning with local labor laws. Affected employees in India will receive 15 days of base salary, leave encashment, an ex gratia payment equivalent to 15 days' salary for each year of service, and a guaranteed two months' salary. Additionally, they will receive one month of "gardening leave" pay, along with ₹20,000 for insurance coverage.
