Oracle stock spikes 12% as strong Q3 earnings answer Wall Street AI buildout concerns

Oracle's stock experienced a significant boost, climbing 12% on Wednesday following the release of its strong third-quarter earnings report. The company has alleviated concerns among analysts regarding its future debt, confirming that it does not intend to acquire any additional debt in 2026 beyond what has already been disclosed. During the earnings call on Tuesday, CEO Clayton Magouyrk emphasized the capital-intensive nature of investing in AI infrastructure, but reassured stakeholders that Oracle's operational model is finely tuned for profitability. This statement comes in light of prior skepticism surrounding the financing strategies for its data center projects. In a previous announcement, Oracle indicated plans to raise up to $50 billion in 2026 through a mix of debt and equity, while clarifying that it does not foresee issuing new bonds. On the analyst call, Magouyrk highlighted the company’s progress in AI infrastructure, stating, "We have signed contracts worth over $29 billion with various customers utilizing this new model." He further explained that a strategic combination of bringing customer-owned hardware and receiving upfront payments allows Oracle to maintain its expansion efforts without experiencing negative cash flow. Additionally, Magouyrk noted that the company successfully completed 90% of its 400-megawatt data centers on or ahead of schedule during the third quarter, showcasing its operational efficiency.
