
In a significant move, OpenDoor, the San Francisco-based online real estate platform, has terminated its entire workforce in India, which comprised nearly 250 employees. This decision comes as the company pivots towards artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its operational efficiency. As part of its reorganization, OpenDoor is focusing on smaller teams located in the United States, which are designed to leverage AI tools and workflows effectively. Chief Executive Kaz Nejatian announced this pivotal change through a post on X, where he outlined the reasoning behind the company's shift in strategy. In his post, Nejatian expressed sadness over the layoffs, stating, “Today we began to say goodbye to our colleagues in India as we wind down our India operations.” He emphasized that the company's primary customer base is in America, indicating that the operational focus must align with this reality.
