OpenAI has recently removed a highly publicized video that showcased the collaboration between CEO Sam Altman and renowned Apple designer Jony Ive. This video was also tied to OpenAI's significant $6.5 billion agreement to acquire Ive’s startup, io. The removal has sparked speculation about potential issues surrounding the acquisition or Ive's upcoming design role at OpenAI. However, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, there is no cause for alarm regarding the deal, which is reportedly proceeding as planned. Gurman clarified that a judge has imposed a restraining order concerning the name 'io', which has compelled OpenAI to retract all associated promotional materials. In related developments, Bloomberg Law previously reported that the AI device company IYO has initiated a trademark lawsuit against OpenAI. The presiding judge has indicated that she is receptive to IYO's claims, which argue that OpenAI's promotional content could lead to consumer confusion. TechCrunch has reached out to OpenAI for further clarification on the matter. For the time being, the promotional video remains accessible on the social media platform X.
