OpenAI appoints Arvind KC as Chief People Officer to guide next phase of AI growth

OpenAI has announced the appointment of Arvind KC as its new Chief People Officer, a strategic move aimed at steering the company’s workforce through its rapid expansion in the field of artificial intelligence. Reporting directly to Jason Kwon, OpenAI’s Chief Strategy Officer, KC will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s approach to hiring, onboarding, and developing policies that foster effective collaboration among teams. In a recent blog post, OpenAI emphasized the importance of responsible management during the transition to AI-driven workplaces. Rather than viewing AI as a replacement for human employees, the company aims to establish a framework where AI technology enhances human capabilities and enables employees to achieve more. OpenAI is committed to investing in training and development programs, ensuring that its workforce evolves alongside technological advancements. KC expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating, “This is a moment where every organization is being asked to rethink how work happens, what teams need, how people grow, and how to adapt as tools change. I'm excited to join OpenAI as we work through those questions ourselves, alongside our ecosystem of users, customers, and partners building the future with us.” Before joining OpenAI, KC held the position of Chief People and Systems Officer at Roblox and has held senior roles at renowned companies such as Google, Palantir Technologies, and Meta. His academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University Institute of Chemical Technology in Maharashtra, followed by an MBA from Santa Clara University. KC takes over the role from Julia Villagra, who departed from OpenAI in August 2025 to pursue personal interests.
