ChatGPT Go now free in India: OpenAI launches limited-time offer from 4 November

OpenAI, under the leadership of Sam Altman, has made a significant announcement that will excite users in India. Starting from November 4, the company will offer a one-year complimentary access to ChatGPT Go for individuals who register during this limited-time promotional period. This initiative aligns with the upcoming DevDay Exchange event, which marks OpenAI's inaugural gathering in India. The free offer is extended not only to new users but also to existing subscribers of ChatGPT Go, who will automatically benefit from an additional 12 months of free service. Introduced in India back in August, ChatGPT Go is a cost-effective subscription option created in response to user demand for more affordable access to advanced AI functionalities. This subscription plan provides users with enhanced features, including increased message limits, image generation abilities, and file upload options, making it a versatile tool for both personal and professional applications. OpenAI's decision to launch ChatGPT Go in India first underscores the company's strategic focus on this rapidly expanding market. Since its launch, the number of subscribers in India has more than doubled within the first month, prompting OpenAI to broaden this service to nearly 90 markets worldwide. India has quickly emerged as OpenAI's second-largest user base, with millions—including developers, students, and professionals—utilizing ChatGPT on a daily basis. OpenAI describes this promotional offer as part of its commitment to an 'India-first' strategy, which supports the country's AI Mission. This initiative is timely as India prepares to host the AI Impact Summit next year. Nick Turley, OpenAI’s Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, expressed his enthusiasm over the positive reception to ChatGPT Go since its launch, stating, "The creativity and adoption we've witnessed from users in India have been truly inspiring. This free access will enable even more individuals to engage with advanced AI tools across the nation."
