OpenAI introduces new ChatGPT Pro Plan: Check price, features, and upgrades

OpenAI has launched an exciting new subscription option for ChatGPT, introducing a Pro plan that significantly enhances user capabilities. This upgrade features a remarkable five-fold increase in usage limits for the Codex tool, intensifying the competition against Anthropic’s Claude Code. In a recent post shared on X, OpenAI highlighted advancements in both the ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscription tiers, aimed at accommodating the surging demand for Codex. This announcement coincides with the company celebrating 3 million weekly users of Codex and a reset of user limits for this coding tool, empowering developers to tackle complex coding tasks with increased efficiency. The new ChatGPT Pro plan is priced at $100 per month in the United States, strategically positioned between the existing $20 ChatGPT Plus plan and a higher-tier $200 plan, which is currently not prominently featured on OpenAI's website. However, the Pro plan allows users to access five times more usage of the Codex tool compared to the Plus plan. Additional features included in the Pro plan encompass advanced reasoning capabilities with GPT 5.4, unlimited access to GPT 5.3 with file uploads, rapid image generation, and enhanced deep research functionalities. Users will also benefit from new memory and context features, as well as a research preview. It's important to note that the existing ChatGPT Go and Plus subscriptions do not provide unlimited usage, while the elusive $200 plan promises unlimited access with 20 times the limits of the Plus tier. OpenAI asserts that these offerings are designed to support the most demanding workflows, facilitating seamless operations across multiple projects. Codex head Thibault ‘Tibo’ Sottiaux expressed optimism about the new plan, describing it as an ideal choice for many users. With the introduction of the $100 plan, OpenAI is poised to keep innovating in the AI space, inviting users to explore the expanded capabilities. In tandem with the launch of the new Pro plan, OpenAI has implemented adjustments to the ChatGPT Plus plan, resulting in modified limits for certain features. As the temporary additional access to Codex for Plus users comes to an end, some may find themselves with reduced usage limits, potentially nudging them towards opting for the new Pro plan.
