
OpenAI has officially revealed its inaugural custom AI chip, named Jalapeño, marking a significant move towards establishing a foothold in the AI infrastructure sector. This development, announced on Wednesday, was a collaborative effort with Broadcom to optimize the processing capabilities necessary for ChatGPT and OpenAI's coding assistant, Codex. The Jalapeño chip is specifically engineered to efficiently manage current and future AI workloads, with early tests indicating promising performance improvements compared to existing technologies.
