In recent weeks, speculation has circulated regarding the potential introduction of advertisements within ChatGPT. Users have expressed their discontent after sharing screenshots that seemed to depict ad-like app suggestions within the chatbot interface. However, OpenAI's lead for ChatGPT has officially dismissed these claims, asserting that the images in question are either fabricated or represent unfounded rumors. Nick Turley, OpenAI’s VP and head of the ChatGPT app, took to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to clarify the situation. He stated, "I’m seeing lots of confusion about ad rumours in ChatGPT. There are no live tests for ads – any screenshots you’ve seen are either not real or not ads." Despite ongoing conversations among users about potential ad testing, Turley emphasized that OpenAI is committed to prioritizing user experience and will adopt a thoughtful approach should they ever consider introducing advertisements. Although earlier reports hinted at the possibility of ads being integrated into the platform, including comments from developer Tibor Blaho suggesting he found code related to an "ad feature" in the ChatGPT Android app, OpenAI is taking steps to alleviate these concerns. Mark Chen, the chief research officer, confirmed that the app suggestions feature has been disabled for now, and the company is actively exploring ways to enhance user control over any suggestions made. In a broader context, OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, recently issued a "Code Red" following the launch of Google’s Gemini 3 model. Employees have been instructed to pause the rollout of new features and services to focus on optimizing the ChatGPT experience, underscoring the company's commitment to improving its flagship product amidst the competitive landscape.
